Which antivirus product should I use to protect my home or personal computer?

Avoiding malware is an important topic for everyone using a computing device, regardless of the operating system. There are several steps you should consider, including installing current patch updates, avoiding unknown websites and malicious email links, and using an antivirus utility. Also, be sure to have backups of your valuable data. Though McAfee antivirus software is no longer provided for home or personal use, there are several well-known free options:   Windows 7/Vista Microsoft Security Essentials is free and available for download directly from Microsoft. More information may be found here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security-essentials-download   Windows 10/8.1/8 Windows Defender is enabled by default on all Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 systems.
